The North of England Under 16s Championship was played at Pannal Golf Club in Yorkshire. Rounds 1 and 2 were completed, but due to high winds, Rounds 3 and 4 were canceled. George Shakespeare from Royal Eastbourne finished Round 1 at 1 over par, with four birdies—three of them consecutive. He started Round 2 with a bogey, but given his impressive birdie streak in Round 1, he knew anything was possible. George made birdies on holes 8 and 9, putting him 1 under through the front 9. He then put himself in a strong position by making a birdie on the 11th hole and finished his round in style with an eagle on the 13th, followed by a birdie on the 14th. George finished the round with pars, leaving him 4 under par for the tournament, and a joint winner of the North of England Under 16s Championship.
Sussex would like to congratulate George on his victory, as well as all the other juniors from Sussex who competed (please see results below). The County is proud of all your efforts. Lastly, congratulations to Cole Self from Ringway Golf Club for also winning the Championship alongside George.
