Sussex Golfer John Eakin Named to England Golf Disability Performance Squad

Sussex County Golf is delighted to celebrate Royal Ashdown Forest’s John Eakin, who has been selected for the England Golf Disability Performance Squad for the 2025/26 season.

This national recognition forms part of England Golf’s new Disability Golf Plan (2025–2030), a forward-thinking strategy designed to make golf one of the leading sports of choice for disabled people in England. The plan establishes a clear pathway for talented golfers with disabilities to progress and represent their country on the international stage.

John is one of twelve golfers named to the inaugural squad, which is structured into four performance bands set by the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA). Competing in Band 2, John’s selection is a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for both Royal Ashdown Forest and Sussex County Golf.

Emma Whitlock, County Secretary of Sussex County Golf, said:

“It’s great to see the progress being made in the disability side of the sport. I’ve met a few members of the Disability Performance Team and they are some of the most inspirational golfers I’ve ever met – and such great role models for others.”

Sussex County Golf extends its congratulations to John and the full England Golf Disability Performance Squad as they embark on an exciting new season.
