Sussex Seniors Championship 2025
The 2025 Sussex Seniors Championship took place on Friday 22nd August at Ifield Golf Club, played over 36 holes in one day. The event was held in warm sunny conditions and featured a strong field of senior players from across the county to ensure fierce competition.

The standout performance came from Steve Graham (East Sussex National GC), who claimed the prestigious Arthur Gilligan Trophy as Sussex Seniors Scratch Champion. He set the tone early with a superb 2-under-par 68 in the morning round — the lowest score of the day — giving him a five-shot lead at the halfway mark. With the pressure on in the afternoon, Graham held firm, posting a steady 74 to secure a well-deserved victory. He will now go on to represent Sussex at the champion of champions at Woodhall spa, the home of England Golf.
In the nett competition, Robin Abbott (Willingdon GC) impressed with consistent rounds of 66 and 72, earning him the Nett Champion title.
The Team Trophy was won by Martin Galway and Andy Barnes both from Pyecombe GC. Galway shot 72 and 74, while Barnes contributed rounds of 75 and 80, giving them the edge in a closely contested team event.
It proved to be a very enjoyable and competitive day of golf, brilliantly hosted by Ifield Golf Club.
